Tutor for Dental Care Professionals – Ref: KSS165 (1 year fixed-term appointment - with the possibility of renewal for up to a 4 year period subject to review by the Dental Dean) Band 7, Salary £35,869 - £45,353 (inclusive of High Cost Supplement)
The KSS Deanery is seeking to appoint a Tutor for Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) within the Dental Department, who will contribute significantly to the education and training of Dentists and the whole Dental Team.
The Dental Department currently manages the postgraduate education of dentists, some basic dental nurse education leading to registration with the General Dental Council, and post basic qualification education for all DCPs throughout Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
In this role, you will work in close collaboration with the Dental Dean for the delivery throughout the Deanery, of Lifelong Learning, through training and education for DCPs. You will work with other KSS Dental Tutors and network with DCP Tutors in other Deaneries, and will work with other organisations to assist in the setting up and delivery of basic training for dental nurses where no other courses exist, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the whole team.
You will have a broad understanding of the structure and working of the dental services, as well as evidence of good communication, leadership and training skills.
Your calm manner, organised approach to work and meticulous attention to detail, will be fully utilised in this busy, but supportive environment. Your ability to rise to challenging situations, where you may need to react quickly to changing priorities, will equip you to undertake this varied and interesting role. In addition to your experience in a previous teaching role, you will also be experienced in counselling and mentoring.
With your understanding of relevant legislation and experience of managing staff, you will have well developed IT skills (including Access and PowerPoint), expertise in project management and meeting tight and concurrent deadlines within a busy and demanding work environment. You will also hold a Dental Care Professional qualification and be on the General Dental Council Register.
